ADVANTICA TECHNOLOGY – Instilling a commercial culture

Nature of business

Supporting energy and water suppliers in improving their performance.

Objective

Our task was to engage the whole company in a leadership-led drive to embed a commercial culture among all employees within a technically minded workforce.

Audience

This consisted of managers, technical staff (many at Ph.D. level) and support people.

Geographical Spread

The audience mainly worked at the Loughborough HQ and 12 sites across UK – but there was one site in the US.

Media

We ran an event for all staff, supported by facilitated workshops and manager-led workshops. These were backed up by the innovative use of change zones and a performance dome. We also produced interactive workmats, video, and several intranet pages, newsletters, booklets and posters.

Programme

TEG worked with the leadership team to scope an 18-month programme based on empowered workstreams. Each of these had the task of implementing the desired commercial behaviours in the company. We supported the workstreams and the leadership group with interactive tools and materials (described above) to bring ideas to life within the organisation through an interesting variety of media.

We developed a clear measurement programme to track performance. Throughout the process, we provided change management advice and guidance at all levels to the leadership team and senior management group. Finally, we facilitated senior leadership in their aim of articulating a hit list of five Strategic Priorities to embed across business units.
